The mighty Geelong Gaels Womens team, winners of the Australasian Regional games 2018 which were held in Geelong.
Geelong given rights to host the 2018 Australasian Regional Games, the club felt the need to
start up the ladies section of the club. With only 6-7 weeks of training done in the lead up to the
games and with the majority of the ladies never playing Gaelic Football before, the ladies won the competition beating St. Kevin’s of Melbourne in the final. This was by far the biggest victory for the Gaels as a club in our short history.
Also on the day our Under 15 girls took out the Blitz beating Kids GAA Melbourne in the final.
What most ladies and girls like about Gaelic is the fast pace of the game with very little stoppages, no tackling whatsoever, play on at all times, kicking the round ball and also knowing how the round ball will bounce.
Ladies Gaelic Football at the Gaels is open to anyone who wants to give it a try, whether it’s just try another game, keep your fitness up over summer or most importantly to meet new people. The vast majority of our ladies play with the Geelong West Giants Seniors or Under 15 teams.
This summer we will begin our first ever Summer Social 7s competition in Geelong, this will be
another great chance to meet new people and keep fit over the summer.
